Cozy Tiles is a classic Mahjong solitaire, dressed in a carved-jade temple, that you can play free in your browser with no download. The board is a layered 3D shrine of stacked tiles, and your task is to clear it by removing matching pairs. Tap two identical tiles that are both free — a tile counts as free when nothing is stacked on top of it and either its left or right edge is open — and the pair vanishes, peeling the shrine apart layer by layer until the whole structure is gone. Clear a board and you don't win and stop; you descend to a deeper, denser shrine, so the game runs as far as your patience and skill will carry it. Two touches make it kinder than old-school Mahjong: every shrine is generated by reverse-stacking so it's provably solvable from the start, and if you ever paint yourself into a corner the board auto-reshuffles, meaning you never slam into an unwinnable dead end. When you're stuck by choice rather than the board, a set of aids — Hint, Undo, Vanish and Shuffle — help you find or force a path. Jade you earn along the way banks into permanent altar blessings at the Jade Altar. It's a calm, methodical, deeply replayable tile-matching puzzle with real depth beneath the serenity.

How to play

Remove the shrine in matching pairs. Tap (or click) a free tile to select it, then tap a matching free tile to clear both. A tile is free only when nothing covers it and its left or right side is exposed; buried tiles stay dimmed until you uncover them. Empty the shrine to descend one level deeper. Desktop: the Arrow keys or WASD move a cursor across the free tiles, Space or Enter selects, and H shows a hint. Mobile: tap tiles directly. Lean on the Hint, Undo, Vanish and Shuffle buttons when you're stuck. Tips: 1) Scan for tiles that block the most others and clear those first — freeing the interior early keeps far more pairs playable than picking off easy edges. 2) When two matching pairs of the same symbol are both available, remove the pair that opens up more buried tiles. 3) Use Undo to walk back a greedy match rather than restarting, and spend earned jade on Altar blessings to make deeper shrines more forgiving.
