Rune Surge is a fast-drawing action spell-caster you can play free in your browser, no download needed. You're a rune-mage defending a glowing sigil-gate as waves of foes march down from the top of the screen. Every enemy is warded by a rune stamped on its body — a caret, a vee, a line, a slash, a zig or a circle — and the only way to strike is to read that rune and draw the matching one-stroke glyph in the casting zone below. A clean cast doesn't just hit one target: it shatters every foe of that rune type on the field at once, so smart casters watch the crowd and clear whole groups in a single flick. Land casts back-to-back to build a combo multiplier, and bank Nova charges to trigger a field-wide pulse when you're overwhelmed. Smudge a glyph and you'll miscast — it costs no gate health, but you lose a beat and your combo, so speed and clean lines both matter. The waves never stop and new runes enter play as you go; the run ends only when your gate's health finally falls. How to play

Mobile: draw a single-finger glyph in the glowing zone below the battlefield — the foes stay up top, so your hand never covers them. Desktop: draw glyphs with the mouse, or skip drawing entirely and press number keys 1-6 to cast each rune directly by index; press N (or tap the Nova button) to fire a field-wide pulse. A matching cast destroys every foe of that rune type at once. Tips: prioritise the rune type with the most foes on screen — one clean cast wipes them all, so you clear crowds far faster than picking off singles. Keep casting in a steady rhythm to hold your combo multiplier, since a miscast resets it. Save Nova charges for a moment when several rune types crowd the gate at once — note it's a one-damage pulse, so tougher foes like the warded brute survive a single Nova and need a follow-up. Buy a Reinforced Gate or Ward Shield in the Sanctum early to survive longer runs.
